hello, friend

Own your skillset.

The skills and experience you already have are your biggest asset. You didn't pause your life — you ran a household, a classroom, a village. That's the résumé.

What you already bring

Nobody hands mothers a job description, and yet the work gets done. Year after year. If you've been raising people, you've been leading — the title just never showed up on the door.

  • Running logistics like an operations lead — schedules, budgets, and backups for the backups
  • Negotiating with schools, doctors and insurers like it's your job, because it is
  • Rallying volunteers, fundraising, organizing — leading without a title
  • Keeping a cool head in a crisis, with no manual and no sleep

Where it goes next

You don't start over. You start from here. The same strengths run teams, campaigns, classrooms, businesses and causes — and nobody earns their way into them faster than someone who has already done the hard part every day.

Paid work, a return to a career, a seat at the table, a run for something — all of it starts the same way: naming what you already bring, and putting it to work.

The country we're building

Burn It Down isn't only about tearing out the rules that don't serve mothers. It's about what we build instead:

  • Mothers own their skillset
  • Mothers take part in the big decisions
  • Support and infrastructure are there when we need them
  • Our health is a priority
  • Joy is part of the plan

Your biggest asset

Put your strengths to work.

Tell us your skills, experience and what you want next. We'll suggest ways to use what you already bring.

Questions, answered.

What counts as a skill if I've been home with kids?
All of it. Scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, caregiving, crisis management, teaching, fundraising — the work you did unpaid is the work organizations pay for. Name it plainly and it belongs on the résumé.
How do I put my strengths to work?
Start by writing them down in plain words — what you did, not the job title you didn't have. Then use the tool below: tell it your skills, experience and goals, and it suggests ways to put what you already bring to work.
Is this only for mothers going back to work?
No. It's for any mother who wants her skillset to count — toward paid work, a business, a board, a campaign, or simply the next brave move. Own your skillset first. The direction is yours.
